"Waaay tougher than I thought"
Oof, this course was definitely harder than I expected. The hills reaaally got me, but I made it through and finished okay in the end.

The expo was really smooth and easy to get through. Packet pickup was quick, everything seemed well run, and there were some nice vendors to check out too.

"Clear refund and deferral info"
Checked the refund and deferral policy before signing up. It was easy to follow.
No weird fine print. Just clear stuff about what can be refunded or deferred.
Made me feel better about registering. Plans change. Seems fair

"Great finish, but the wait was annoying"
The finish line was really well organized and felt great crossing it. I was able to find my family easily afterward, the volunteers were super nice, and getting my medal and water was quick. The only thing that frustrated me was having to wait around in the crowd for a bit, after running that long, I was definitely not in the mood to stand there. Still, it wasn’t a huge deal, and overall I was really happy with how the end of the race went.

"Results went up super fast"
I checked delawaremarathon.org after the race and was suprised my results were already there. Found my time and place really easy, no annoying signup or weird extra steps. Happy with how smooth it was...

"Marathon shirt was just alright..."
I ran the Delaware Marathon the race itself was a good experience... but the shirt left me a little underwhelmed. The design was decent enough, though the fabric felt thin and not especially soft.
After one wash, it already seemed a bit out of shape, so I’m not sure how often I’ll actually wear it. It’s not awful or anything... I just expected something a little nicer for a marathon shirt.
"Corrals were easy, though not perfect"
The corral setup was easy and went smoother than I expected. That said, I did find myself a little confused at first, even though it was simple once I got going. Overall, they handled it well, but I still feel like it could’ve been a bit clearer...
"The crowd was probably my favorite part of..."
The crowd was probably my favorite part of the race. I’m not exactly a speedy runner, but people were still out there cheering like we were all pros or something.
There were families, little kids holding signs, and people calling out names from bibs, which was such a nice boost. Even the water stops had a really friendly feel, not just people handing cups and moving on. It helped alot when my legs were pretty much done.
Nothing super fancy to add, it just had a really good local race vibe. The support made the miles feel way less lonely, and I’d defintely do it again.

"Fun idea, but the safety setup needs work"
I really wanted to enjoy this race, but a few parts felt unsafe. Some of the road crossings didn’t seem well monitored, and there were moments where runners, me included, weren’t totally sure which way to go. The volunteers who were there were friendly and trying their best, but there just weren’t enough of them. It felt like the organizers leaned too much on signs, apps, or whatever automated setup instead of having actual people in the right spots. I’m tired of events acting like a system can replace common sense and proper staffing. I hope they fix it, because the race had potential, but the stress took away from the fun.

"Not gonna lie, the bathroom situation at..."
Not gonna lie, the bathroom situation at the Delaware Marathon was better than I expected. There were porta potties near the start and throughout the course, which made things stress-free. The lines got a little long before the race, but they moved along fine. A few extra bathrooms in certain spots wouldn’t hurt, but overall it wasn’t a big issue

"I had a little issue with my..."
I had a little issue with my registration and thought it might turn into one of those back-and-forth support things, but nope. They replied really quickly, answered my question, and got it sorted without making it feel complicated or like I’d done something wrong. Just a simple, easy fix, which was exactly what I needed in the moment

"Decent race, but the price and verification got annoying"
The race itself was okay, nothing too bad, but the fees felt a bit high for what it was. What really got on my nerves was having to go through verification more than once. Like, I already did it, so why am I being asked again? It just made the whole experience feel more frustrating than it needed to be...

"Packet pickup was a breeze"
I grabbed my bib really quickly, and the volunteers were super nice. The lines kept moving, so I wasn’t stuck waiting around. Overall, it was a really smooth and easy packet pickup.

"Aid stations were easy to spot"
There were plenty of aid stations around, so it was super easy to find one whenever I needed it. that made things feel a lot more relaxed

"Timing was alright, but the promises were vague"
The finish time was close enough to use, but it still felt a bit off. I also wish they’d been clearer about what to expect instead of making it sound like everything would be spot on. It wasn’t terrible, just not as reliable as I thought it would be

"Start area was a mess and wasted so much energy"
The race itself was fine once it got going, but wow, the start line was way more stressful than it needed to be. There weren’t enough signs, everyone looked confused about where to go, and the corrals felt disorganized. I showed up early thinking I’d have plenty of time, but the bathroom and bag check lines moved so slowly that I still ended up feeling rushed. The volunteers were friendly, which I appreciated, but the whole setup had me walking around in circles and wasting energy before I even started running. For a marathon, I really expected the logistics to be a lot smoother.

"Fun race, but the traffic issues felt avoidable"
I had a decent time at the race overall, but the traffic control was kind of messy. It felt like something that could’ve been handled better with a little more planning, so the delays and confusion seemed avoidable.

"Parking was surprisingly easy"
I was expecting parking to be a hassle, but I found a spot quickly. Weirdly, I remember there was a bright orange traffic cone just sitting by itself near the entrance, but other than that, it was smooth and easy...

"The swag was actually solid this..."
The swag was actually solid this year. The shirt fit well, the medal looked nice, and the little freebies were things I could actually use. After being let down in past years, I wouldn’t say my trust is fully back yet, but this was definitely a step in the right direction.

"Helpful volunteers, but the waiting got frustrating"
I had a good experience with Delaware Marathon overall, mainly because the volunteers were genuinely helpful and friendly. I had a few questions about packet pickup and where to go on race morning, and once I got connected with someone, they were great. That said, there was definitely some waiting around that got a little frustrating, especially when I was just trying to get basic info and move on with my day. One part of the site was also a bit confusing, so I’m giving it 4 stars, but in the end it still felt like a well-supported event.
